KARLA
As a child I always had rabbits, but it was as I got older that I became more interested and invested in them. In my late teens I got two rabbits from a pet shop, and decided I wanted to do my best for them, learn and meet their needs properly. They lived until they were 10 years old and are hugely missed. I now have a trio that live outside in a cosy shed and a pair that live in a large enclosure. I also have a little hamster named Pumpkin. I’ve learned a lot about hamsters too and continue to learn every day.
My passion for bunnies and their welfare grew more as I started volunteering at a local rabbit and guinea pig rescue. I didn’t realise before just how many rabbits went into rescues and so from then on, I have only adopted or rescued from people who no longer wanted their rabbits. I started getting involved in rescuing and rehoming in 2014 and in 2018 started my own rescue with people I have been lucky enough to meet and that share the same ideas, passion and commitment as I do. Rescuing has become a big part of my life and I can’t imagine doing anything else. It is clear that the need for rescues in Bristol is high and we want to find good, knowledgeable furever homes for rabbits and other small animals that need a second chance. |
